Japanese Culture
Conceived, produced, and wrote “Japanese Ghosts and Demons,” a video about Japanese culture which was shown at the Asia Society in an exhibit about Japanese art.
Indian Culture
Produced and wrote India at the Crossroads of Change, a program about technology growth, hosted by Bernard Kalb and broadcast on PBS.
Online Reference
Conceived, researched, wrote, and edited thousands of articles for two online encyclopedias, Encyclopedia Americana and Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia (formerly Academic American). Subject areas included: health policy and issues, gerontology, fine and performing arts and literature, film and journalism, world and U.S. history, sociology and social services, education, nonprofits, religion, business, anthropology and archaeology, and others.
Multimedia
Conceived, wrote, and conducted interviews for Grolier Inc.’s multimedia products, including the Guinness Book of Records and the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction. The former included interviews with a man who runs races backwards and the latter included some 50 stories about the history of science fiction.
Film Programming
Conceived and oversaw Film Asia, film series at the Asia Society about Asian life and culture.
K-12 Education
Wrote and edited for TrueFlix and FreedomFlix for Scholastic publishing; these products for K-12 focused on identifying primary sources for students to research as part of history, natural science, and literature projects.
Casablanca Drive
Conceived, co-produced, and wrote half-hour documentary about business and culture in Morocco, which aired on the Discovery Channel.
Holocaust Commemoration
Conceived, produced, and wrote series of pieces on Holocaust Commemoration Week, entitled Remembering the Holocaust, on WNET/13 public television; received New York Emmy nomination.
